Gueydan Flying Ducks
Kevin Williams Sr. is the Founder, President of Basketball Operations and Head Coach of the Gueydan Flying Ducks, leading the organization both on and off the court. Williams helped bring the Flying Ducks to Gueydan, Louisiana, with a vision that extended beyond simply building a basketball team. His goal was to create a championship-level basketball program that could represent Gueydan and Vermilion Parish with pride while providing players with opportunities to develop, gain exposure and advance their basketball careers.
Building the Flying Ducks
When Williams brought the Flying Ducks to Gueydan, he believed a small community could support a basketball organization with big ambitions. From the beginning, he emphasized four principles that have become part of the program's foundation:
Family • Loyalty • Discipline • Respect
Under Williams' leadership, the Flying Ducks established their home in Gueydan and quickly began developing an identity centered around winning, player development, professionalism and community.
The organization's message — “Small Town. Big Dreams. Championship Culture.” — reflects Williams' vision for what the Flying Ducks can represent.
An Historic First Season
Williams' first season leading the Flying Ducks became a historic one.
The Ducks opened their journey in Gueydan with a 105–75 victory in their first-ever game, followed by a 104–67 victory in Game 2.
Those victories were only the beginning.
Williams guided the Gueydan Flying Ducks through an undefeated 2025 NBL-United States season, culminating in the organization capturing the 2025 NBL-United States Championship.
For his leadership during the championship campaign, Williams was named the 2025 NBL-United States Coach of the Year.
The championship established Gueydan as the home of an undefeated NBL-US champion and gave the Flying Ducks a foundation upon which to build their future.
Championship Experience
Williams brings extensive championship experience to the Flying Ducks. He is a seven-time NBL-US championship coach/executive, giving the organization experienced leadership as it works to establish a sustainable championship culture in Gueydan.
His approach goes beyond wins and losses. Williams believes a development organization must prepare players for what comes next.
That means teaching players how to practice, compete, communicate and conduct themselves at a professional level while helping them build the film, statistics, exposure and experience necessary to pursue opportunities beyond the Flying Ducks.
For Williams, winning and player development are expected to work together.
President of Basketball Operations
As President of Basketball Operations, Williams oversees the basketball direction of the Flying Ducks.
His responsibilities include roster construction, player recruitment and evaluation, coaching staff development, player development, team culture, basketball operations and establishing the long-term competitive direction of the organization.
Williams is also responsible for protecting the standard established during the Ducks' undefeated championship season.
Players who wear a Flying Ducks uniform are expected to understand that they represent more than themselves. They represent their teammates, the organization, Gueydan and the greater Vermilion Parish community.
Developing Players for the Next Level
Player development remains one of Williams' primary priorities.
The Flying Ducks are designed to give emerging players an environment where they can compete while continuing to develop toward college, professional and international basketball opportunities.
Williams wants players to leave the organization better prepared than when they arrived — not only as basketball players, but in their understanding of preparation, accountability, teamwork and professionalism.
His philosophy is simple:
Develop the player. Develop the person. Build the team. Compete for championships.
Gueydan & Vermilion Parish
Williams' vision for the Flying Ducks also extends into the community.
He wants the organization to become something that Gueydan and Vermilion Parish can call their own.
That includes creating memorable home-game experiences, supporting local businesses, developing relationships with community organizations, creating opportunities for young people and giving families another reason to come together around basketball.
Williams understands that the Flying Ducks' inaugural championship would not have been possible without people in Gueydan who supported the organization from its earliest days.
As the organization grows, maintaining that relationship with the community remains an important part of his vision.
The Next Chapter — The Repeat
Winning the championship was an accomplishment.
Building something that lasts is the next challenge.
As Williams returns to lead the Gueydan Flying Ducks, the expectations remain high. The organization is pursuing another NBL-United States championship while continuing to strengthen its basketball operations, community presence, player-development system and overall professional standards.
Williams wants the Ducks to establish an identity where every player who enters the program understands what came before him and what is expected when he puts on the uniform.
The objective is not simply to remember the undefeated championship season.
The objective is to build on it.
From bringing the organization to Gueydan to leading the Ducks through an undefeated championship campaign, Kevin Williams Sr. has helped establish the foundation of the Flying Ducks.
Now the mission continues:
Represent Gueydan. Represent Vermilion Parish. Develop players. Serve the community. Protect the culture. And compete for another championship.

The Dazzling Duck Divas will be much more than a game-day dance team. Baili has spent her entire life in Gueydan, and now she has an opportunity to help create something new for the community she calls home.
